Описание к видео Train Cab Ride NL / Soest Regio Express / Utrecht - Soest - Baarn / SLT Sprinter / June 2023

Hi everyone! It's video Friday again. Welcome back on board. This time we drive an SLT Sprinter (that really needs cleaning) from Utrecht via Soest to Baarn. A beautiful green train line in the Province of Utrecht. Sit back and relax. Enjoy the ride!

0:00 Utrecht Centraal
We start the ride at Utrecht Central Station. It's a beautiful day and we have a sun in our back. Perfect for a stunning view from the cabin. After departure from Utrecht you can see the lines to Woerden and Amsterdam bending to the left. We head to the right. Next stop! Utrecht Overvecht!

3:33 Utrecht Overvecht
One of the smaller Utrecht Stations. After departure from this station the line splits up again towards Hilversum (to the left). And the line from the Railway Museum is joining in from the right a little later.

6:31 Blauwkapel Oost Aansluiting
At this location we go from four to two tracks leading towards Den Dolder and Soest / Amersfoort.

8:22 Bilthoven

11:33 Den Dolder
Just before this station we encounter two yellow signals pretty quickly after each other. They have the meaning we must be prepared to stop in front of the next red signal. So there's no need to be already running 40km/h at the seconds yellow light. With this short braking distance that would not even be possible when coming from 130km/h as well.

As we arrive at Den Dolder the signal at the end of the platform starts showing a flashing green light with the number 6 under it. Allowing a maximum speed of 60km/h because of the switches behind the station.

16:10 Soest Zuid
Welcome on the single tracked line Den Dolder - Baarn. There's only a possibility to wait for the upcoming train at Soest main station. The other Soest stations have only one track. Also the maximum speed in Soest is set to 40km/h because of the sharp turns.

19:13 Soest
At this station we must wait for the oncoming train. In the morning there's a connecting train towards Amsterdam at Baarn. In the afternoon and evening the Sprinter coming from Amsterdam gives a connection to Soest. That's the case now. Therefor we have a longer waiting time in Soest. In the morning it's the other way around. When having only one track available is always a puzzle to create a good working train schedule for everyone.

I forwarded the time in the video. And while taking a picture I also say some girls hanging out at the end of the platform on the rail crossing. Not a great place to do so. Therefor I walked to them and send them somewhere else.

23:02 Soestdijk
The last Soest station on the route. Soest isn't a very big city by the way. It has about 46.000 inhabitants. But it's a very expansive area to live in. Hence the many station in this small city. If you ever visit Soest. Make sure to get some drinks at Soestdijk. Lovely place!

27:02 Baarn
Final stop for the ride. As you can see passengers would just miss the connecting train towards Amsterdam. That's a choice that had to be made. In the busiest travel direction there's a connecting train. In the morning Soest - Baarn - Amsterdam. And in the afternoon and evening Amsterdam - Baarn - Soest.

I hope you have enjoyed the ride. Live is pretty busy at the moment. So therefor I had to do a short video this time. There's a wedding coming up next year. So I really need to do some time management. :D Let me know what you think of the video and speak soon! Cheers!
