Asian Sewist Collective Podcast: Episode 13. Mindful Fabric Selection, Part 1

Описание к видео Asian Sewist Collective Podcast: Episode 13. Mindful Fabric Selection, Part 1

In this episode, we're talking about mindful fabric selection. When we say mindful, we’re not talking about picking the right fabric for a specific sewing project. What we mean is: taking into consideration the environmental and human rights issues involved with your fabric choices.

The fashion industry is the second-most polluting industry, after oil. The growing, production and processing of fabrics comes with its own bag of environmental and social impacts. And trying to pick a so-called “green” or “sustainable” fabric for your sewing project is easier said than done. So what does it all mean and how do our Asian identities inform our choices?

The Asian Sewist Collective is a group of people of Asian descent who sew! We live in different cities around the world and represent different Asian cultures and ethnicities. In our podcast, we explore the intersection of our identities and our shared sewing practice.
