Chanliny’s Path From Psychology to Nursing

Описание к видео Chanliny’s Path From Psychology to Nursing

While our ABSN program enrolls students from various fields of undergraduate study, many of them come from a psychology background. Chanliny is one of them, and she wants to share her journey from psychology to nursing with you.

After earning her psychology degree, Chanliny worked as a counselor for a few years. She then worked in a doctor’s office, where she ended up managing the practice. While the managerial promotion was great in theory, she felt something was amiss because she wasn’t happy.

“I missed the human connection that I was able to get as a counselor,” she said. “When you’re coming home unhappy, you realize something needs to change.”

Knowing full well that management wasn’t the right career path for her, she spent time thinking about the future. She decided to go into nursing because it’s a profession that would allow her to connect one-on-one with her patients.

Chanliny’s journey to nursing school began with googling “ABSN program.” While she researched different colleges, she chose Northeastern because she liked our hybrid learning model, which blends online coursework with hands-on nursing labs and in-person clinical placements.

Now, having graduated from our ABSN program, Chanliny describes nursing school as a large commitment. “You go in thinking that it’s only four semesters, but four semesters of full-time, rigorous study is a long time.”

If you’re considering the accelerated path to nursing, Chanliny recommends preparing yourself as much as possible before school starts. “It’s definitely worth talking to someone who went through the program. I found solace joining the private Facebook group for Northeastern ABSN students.”
