Roy Fox And His Band - Jig Time (HOT!!)

Описание к видео Roy Fox And His Band - Jig Time (HOT!!)

A nice hot, swinging side by Roy Fox and the Monseigneur Band, with solos by Nat Gonella (what a great soloist he was in his own right), one of the sax team on clarinet (my bet is Ernest Ritte), and Harry Berly on viola. Very good (and rare!) piano breaks by Lew Stone. The arrangement sounds like a reworked stock - probably worked over by Lew Stone or maybe Stan Bowsher.

Though often associated with ballads, of which he was a master of course, Al Bowlly is also a great vocalist on uptempo numbers.

Unfortunately, someone has scrawled with felt pen over the record label! Otherwise the 78 is in nice condition, though Decca wasn't the best company in terms of recording quality in the early 1930s (they got better!).
