How To Connect Your Apple CarPlay in Your Chevrolet Silverado

If you’ve never used Apple CarPlay in the past, no worries! In this video, Tinney Automotive will show you how to use Apple CarPlay from the inside of a 2017 Chevy Silverado. With Apple CarPlay, the accessibility of your iPhone is located right on your vehicle’s display. This feature is convenient when moving from your vehicle, to the office, to your home.

Simply follow the step by step demo to use Apple CarPlay. You can do any of the following:
1) Press and hold the voice command or phone button on either the steering wheel controls or the buttons below the infotainment system display.
2) While in any Apple CarPlay screen, press and hold HOME button on lower left of screen.
3) Launch the Apple CarPlay 'Phone' or 'Messages' app.

Once Apple CarPlay is connected to your Chevrolet Silverado, you’ll notice the icon on your Chevrolet MyLink touchscreen.

Apple CarPlay isn’t an independent system, so you’ll need to keep your phone plugged in when you drive the Silverado. It also should be mentioned that you can’t do certain things in Apple CarPlay that you can do in Android Auto (Android’s similar system for Android smart phones).

APPLE MAPS, MUSIC, MESSAGES, IBOOKS, PODCASTS, AND MORE
Through this connection, you can access your contacts, send messages, utilize maps, and other apps as you would with your iPhone.
Using the music app on your screen display, you can access your favorite tunes just like on your mobile device. Apple Maps allows navigation just as you would on your device.
Siri can also read and write messages on your behalf. You can also reply and send new texts.

Apple Car Play’s main interface is simple and the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado does a great job with it. Just like you’d find when using an Apple device, information is shown as app’s. Music, weather and navigation directions are easily seen, and the time, phone battery, internet connection and voice search icon can be found at the mid-left on the Chevy MyLink touchscreen. These icons are easy to see out of the corner of the eye while driving and easy to use. Apple CarPlay is all about safer driving, staying connected, and being easy to use.
