Kumror Chokka Recipe | সাবেকি নিরামিষ কুমড়োর ছক্কা | Bengali No Onion No Garlic Pure Veg Recipe

Kumror Chokka @Someshukla2017 is a classic Bengali recipe and is prepared without the use of Onion and Garlic, which are considered as Rajasik. So Kumror Chokka is ideally had, with Luchi, during any festival or Puja, but since the recipe is so simple, it is also a staple for Lunch or Dinner in a Bengali Household.
Kumror Chokka has a wonderful balance of sweetness and spices. It is more of a dry curry where Pumpkin is cooked with chunks of Potato and boiled kala Chana (Black Chickpeas). You can also add grated coconut to enhance the taste, but I have kept it very easy and simple, as always.

INGREDIENTS:

• KUMRO/Red Pumpkin/ লাল মিষ্টি কুমড়ো – 500 grams
• ALOO/Potato/ আলু – 2 medium sized
• KALA CHANA/Black Chickpea/ কালো ছোলা – ½ Cup
• PANCH FORAN/পাঁচ ফোড়ন – ½ teaspoon
• HING/Asafoetida/হিং - ¼ teaspoon
• Ginger – 1 inch sized
• Green chillies – 2 to 3
• Cumin powder – ½ teaspoon
• Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
• Mustard oil – 4 tablespoons
• Bengali Bhaja masala - 1 teaspoon
• Ghee (Clarified butter) - 1 tablespoon
• Sugar - 1 teaspoon
• Salt to taste
