The Real Polar Express - Pere Marquette 1225

Описание к видео The Real Polar Express - Pere Marquette 1225

Pere Marquette 1225, a 2-8-4 "Berkshire", operates mainline excursions between Owosso and Alma, Michigan as part of Train Expo 2014.

The 1225 was built in October 1941 by the Lima Locomotive Works of Lima, Ohio for the Pere Marquette Railway. It was utilized mostly in freight by the PM, and later the C&O, until 1958. It was donated to the Michigan State University for display shortly after. In the 70s, a group of college students began a mechanical restoration on the engine. This group, which would form what today is known as the Steam Railroading Institute, successfully restored the 1225 in 1988. Since then, the locomotive has operated many excursions throughout the state of Michigan. The Berkshire is most well known for providing the real life sounds and appearance for the titular locomotive of the 2005 film "The Polar Express."

Don't forget to comment, like, share and subscribe for plenty of great railroading action all over the eastern USA!
