Final Fantasy XVI PC benchmarks: Nvidia RTX 4090 and 4080 Super vs AMD RX 7900 XTX

How fast can Final Fantasy XVI run on the PC? We benchmarked the Nvidia RTX 4070, RTX 4080 Super, and AMD RX 7900 XTX. These are extreme performance GPUs that cost $900 to $1,800 (or more), and without upscaling and framegen they're struggling to maintain 60 fps even at 1080p ultra. We tested at 1080p medium/ultra, 1440p ultra, and 4K ultra — all at native rendering — plus 4K ultra with quality upscaling and framegen.

These tests are from the town of Lostwing, one of the early areas of the game where things open up a bit, and also an area that tends to be fairly demanding based on what we've played so far — inevitably, there will be later portions of the game that are even more demanding, but there are also locations that run better than what we're showing here.
