Today on this 2015 Toyota RAV4 we're going to install part number C13149 from CURT. This is their class three 2" receiver hitch. This is what the hitch looks like when it's installed on the RAV4. Next we'll go ahead and give you some measurements to help you out with selecting some accessories such as a ball mount, a bicycle rack, or a cargo carrier. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground will be about 13-1/4". From the center of the hitch pinhole to the edge of the bumper will be about 3-1/4".

Now we'll go ahead and show you how the hitch is installed. First thing we need to do is go ahead and get our vehicle ready to install the hitch. To start off we want to go ahead and remove the tie-down bracket on the driver side. We're going to use a 17mm socket to do that. Next we'll go ahead and lower our exhaust out of the way. We're going to spray down the rubber hanger here with some spray lubricant and then we'll go ahead and just pry it off.

Now we got plenty of room right here for our exhaust but in our case just because everything's easier to see we'll go ahead and lower it by the hanger here as well. Block of wood gives you something to push against so we can remove it. There it goes. Next we'll go ahead and show you how the hardware works with the hitch. We've got the metric bolt and a conical tooth washer. Make sure the teeth on the washer always face towards the hitch.

This fastener combination will be the same on both sides of the hitch. Now we'll go ahead and show you where the hitch mounts up onto the vehicle. There's these two threaded weld nuts here and here. This is a brand new vehicle so the threads are going to be clean, but it's always a good idea to clean them out first and try them with the hitch bolt before we put the hitch into place. That was the passenger side and this is the driver side.

We'll go ahead and clean up the threads. We'll put some spray lubricant on it and use a tube brush to help clean out the threads. The tube brush we're using is part number 814092. We got one done. We'll go ahead and do the same thing for the rest of the threaded holes. Now we can go ahead and put our hitch into place. It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help hold up the hitch while we install the hardware. We'll get the hitch stable with one on each side first. Then we can go ahead and put the rest of our hardware in. With the hitch loosely in place we may have some working room to move it back and forth. Once you're happy with the placement, then we can go ahead and tighten down the bolts and then torque them down as described in the instructions. With our hitch fully installed we can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. You can spray a little more lubricant on it and put it back into place. That's what it takes to install the CURT class three 2" receiver hitch, part number C13149, on our 2015 Toyota RAV4. .
