Arietta (Six Short Pieces) - Robert Cockroft [Johannus LiVE III AGO]

Описание к видео Arietta (Six Short Pieces) - Robert Cockroft [Johannus LiVE III AGO]

This is the second of Six Little Pieces for Organ, composed by Robert Cockroft and published by Paraclete Press. It is dedicated to "Bobby and Nellie". This recording has been made to celebrate @ChurchOrganWorld becoming the UK distributor of Paraclete Press, including much of Robert's published output. It may be ordered from Church Organ World, here:

It is played on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the Cavaillé-Coll organ in Église Notre-Dame d'Auteuil, Paris. The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position. The Cavaillé-Coll sample was chosen for this piece not because of any French influence in the writing, but because the composer's registrations were available exactly, spread across the three manuals, and all three balanced! Please note that the reduced-size photocopies used were to enable recording without need of a page-turner, and the original copy can be seen on the right-hand side of the music desk, behind these sheets.
