Today, let's talk about the design of our honeycomb glass dome. At RAXTENT, we've been designing and exporting triangular glass domes since 2017. By 2020, we had introduced the honeycomb-shaped glass dome. So, why did RAXTENT design a honeycomb glass dome tent?
For our honeycomb glass dome, we use high-strength 6063 T5 aluminum alloy for the frame and cover with tempered glass. The honeycomb structure is mimicking the shape of a beehive. This design offers excellent mechanical properties, allowing the structure to distribute external forces evenly. The honeycomb glass dome is highly resistant to extreme weather conditions, and can withstand winds of up to 100 km/h and snow loads of 0.5kN/sqm, making it perfect for regions in North America, Northern Europe, and where storms can be intense.
In addition to the hexagonal shape, we’ve also incorporated quadrilateral and pentagonal elements into the dome design. This not only adds layers to the visual appeal, enhancing its aesthetics but also strengthens the dome’s structural stability under various loads. It also meets the seismic design codes of China, ensuring a high earthquake resistance level, with a lifespan of at least 30 years.
The honeycomb design also allows for a more regular interior space, making it easier to install doors, and windows, and divide the interior into functional zones for furniture layout. Furthermore, this geometric arrangement simplifies the production process, making it easier for us to precisely cut and assemble the frame and glass, ensuring a efficient installation.
