Reputed for its unforgettable taste, the legendary Wang Bu Liao (忘不了) or Empurau fish is believed to be the most expensive fresh water fish in Singapore and Malaysia.

Native of the rivers in Sarawak, Malaysia, Empurau feeds on the fruits of trees growing over the rivers. This accounts for the sweet, and melt-in-your-mouth taste of the fish.

Why is the fish so costly to rear? Firstly, it takes at least 3 years for Empurau to reach marketable size. Secondly, for the delicate fish to survive, the water has to be very clean and constantly running. Thirdly, to make sure that the fish is sweet, fish is fed with fruits like grapes, blueberries, melon. Mr Per's Green Dragon Valley Fish Farm is likely to be the biggest farm that breeds the species.

Other than its distinct taste, Empurau is believed to have nutritional qualities such as anti-ageing, improves facial complexion, strengthens bones, and many more. The scales of Empurau, which are extraordinarily large and hexagonal in shape, are another of the highly nutritious parts. Through years of research, Mr Per managed to combine the fish scales and Chinese herbs to create herbal fish scale jelly.
