Sako have taken one of their most popular models, the CarbonLight and transformed it into the new Sako Peak Carbon based on their fantastic new model 90 range.
In fact the Sako 90 Peak Carbon has been designed to be one of the lightest bolt action rifles in the market at 2.6 kg or 5.7lbs. You have the new Model 90 action taking over from the model 85 with calibre specific action sizes thus saving weight and fastest cycling for that calibre., this Peak being the model S for calibres from 22-250 Rem, 243 Win, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08, 308 Win, larger calibres in the M action size.
The action and barrel are stainless steel for weather protection with the new Peak Model 90 having a re-sculptured action with larger loading port, built in Picatinny rails for scope mounting and an aluminium floor plate for lightness. The new trigger system with its five pre-set positions for weight that is instantly accessed through the trigger guard. The Peak utilises a short 20-inch stainless barrel that is fluted to reduce weight so overall length is short too at 40.25 inches.
This Peak model wears a carbon fibre sporter stock that has a great textured finish with a right-hand palm swell and a good comb/cheek angle with a left hand option too. This makes the Peak so useful for long treks out in the hills where durability and lightness are a benefit.
Everything about the Peak shouts, real world Hunter and boy it handles so well, let`s get into it.
