Gokul Chandra Das | Independent Language/Bols of Dhak

Gokul Das, recounting the history of his family and its relation with the instrument, casts a brief look on how within the structure of a strongly caste-ridden society the dhaki community dealt with the everyday hardships.
With time the structure has only strengthened with caste being replaced by class. Further, Das ponders over his ambition to establish Dhak as an individual artistic instrument, bringing it out of the boundaries of Puja pandals.
