LOCAL JAPAN GUIDE: Yamanote Line Marathon Walk Version
I will walk 500 miles.. along the ENTIRE marathon length of Tokyo’s Yamanote Train Line for food and beer..

With the big news about town that the JR (Japan Railways) group is increasing Japan Rail Pass prices by as much as 80% from October 2023, there’s no reason to fear, Japan tourists! We’ve got the perfect walking tour guide of Tokyo for you, so you can save more money for the best Japanese food and drink around the city!

We’re walking across Tokyo the ENTIRE marathon length of the Yamanote Line (Tokyo’s busiest train line, which connects all of the city’s major entertainment and business hubs) and breaking the 34.5km loop of 30 stations up into chunks, so you can find something to eat (and drink) at whatever station you get off at! Today we’re travelling from Shinagawa Station to Ebisu to try the famous Japanese beer, Yebisu, which gave the town its name, but this is just part 1 of the epic journey across Tokyo! Don’t forget to subscribe for the next leg of the marathon!

📍 ROUTE INFO
We started at Shinagawa Station (品川駅 “Shinagawa eki”), a major transport hub in Tokyo that connects passengers to the rest of Japan with access to Shinkansen bullet trains and train lines to both Haneda and Narita airports as well as local JR and the privately owned Keikyu railway lines. We’re following the Yamanote Line in the 外回り “soto mawari” outbound (clockwise) direction and we’ll be continuing our Yamanote Line Tokyo marathon where we left off in our next video!

Route: Shinagawa Station → Shinagawa Shrine Fujizuka (Mini Mt. Fuji in Tokyo) → Osaki Station → Gotanda Station → Meguro River → Meguro Station → Ebisu Garden Place →Yebisu Beer Stand Bar

If you don’t fancy walking the entire Yamanote line loop, you can take unlimited rides around Tokyo’s JR East lines (including rapid trains) in the 23 wards of central Tokyo with the Tokyo Metropolitan District Pass (Tokunai Pass) https://www.jreast.co.jp/multi/en/pas... (not sponsored!)
