Autumn in my cozy Dutch village | the Netherlands

I hope this brings you some calmness and beauty during these strange times. A glimpse into our little village during October.

Fog that lingers throughout the day, the sound of horseshoes on the paving stones and the church bells ringing in the distance, the old, misty graveyard behind our street, farmers selling their pumpkins in little market stalls down the road, and crows cawing in the fields.

The village lies right next to the river, surrounded by Dutch countryside, old farms and mills. We live in the old part of town, close by the little 16th century harbour where the ferry leaves for the main land.

And as you can see, this autumn we started rebuilding our garden. We’re saying goodbye to our vegetable garden plot and will continue solely in our own backyard.

We learned a lot during our two years at the vegetable plot, but it will be much easier and more time efficient having everything close to home. By clever design and also gardening vertical, you can fit a lot per square meter.

I can’t wait to to show you the process and the end result in an upcoming video.
