In Focus: Remembering Baba Saheb | 14 April, 2023

India is celebrating the 132nd Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar. Popularly known as the father of the Indian Constitution, Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was a multifaceted personality whose contributions had impacts beyond the walls of the constituent assembly. He was the first law and justice minister of independent India.

Born in 1891 in Maharashtra, Ambedkar rose from a humble background to become a leading voice of the marginalised people during the freedom struggle and is credited with introducing several social reforms. He wrote extensively on history, economics, political science and sociology. He was also a strong advocate of women's rights, labour rights and gender equality.
