Yamaha VSTAR 1100 Tachometer Installation

Описание к видео Yamaha VSTAR 1100 Tachometer Installation

I happened to be doing some work on my bike and with it open, having received many requests, i'm making a video about how I install the tachometer in this model bike. Ill note the stock 1in bars are on this bike though I do have risers, however I show that on a bike without risers this installation is no issue. The tachometer used is sized in 2.4in.

In another video I go through the removal of the tank after the battery is disconnected. Then, the front pieces of trim are removed. After which, the headlight is removed, this requires a bit of a technique for the Silverado edition with the wind screen.

We can see how the tachometer was installed center on the bars, its a simple install with the wire making its way into the small hole into the headlight case. The particular wire connections are illustrated in the video for power and ground along with illumination tied to power. These going to the Blue and Black cables. The remaining green signal cable continues onward out of the headlight case and to one of the coils where its soldered in and insulated.

Upon completion everything is tested and redressed, a quick run of the engine for a second with whats in the bowls will show a working tach. With this good, the headlight is then replaced and then tested for high and low beams. This is followed by the front trim.

A link to another video shows the reassembly of the rest of the pieces, before a final test of the bike for a warmup and a ride around town.
