and Welcome to "Bhogi" Special Episode of ‪@RedSoilStories‬
It was the day of "Makar Sankrant" a holy day in Indian Tradition where the whole country celebrates this day in different forms. In Maharashtra it is Called Makar Sankrant and the Day before it is called "Bhogi".
On this day of Bhogi, we Maharashtrians prepare "Bhogichi Bhaji" also known as "Khengat" which is a mix vegetable sabji usually prepared from the just harvested winter crops. Mainly green vegetables and peas and beans.
We prepared this Bhogichi Bhaji Recipe on the day of Sankranti because few guests were coming at our place for lunch. They were Mousami Tondwalkar, her husband Siddhesh Shelar and her Mothe. They are also known as ‪@mumbaidigitalfactory‬ .
Pooja prepared Bhogichi Bhaji with lot of mix vegetables, beans and peas in the morning. Guests arrived at the noon, after some gossip with them Pooja prepare Bajarichi Bhakri ( Pearl millet flour roti ) and served the lunch which included Bhogichi Bhaji, Bajarichi til lavleli bhakri, Pulao, Chutney, Harbhare (fresh chickpea), Gajar (Carrot), Sugarcane, Boiled peanuts, Tilgul, Salad, Dahi and few more things.
All of them loved the lunch and they praised Pooja's complete veg thali, after lunch Pooja performed "Haldi-Kunku" ritual with the Ladies which includes gifting a token of love to the ladies and applying 'Haldi-Kumkum" on their forehead to take blessings. Pooja gave them Plants as gifts indicating to care for our mother nature.
