DRISS Presents TEACH-Recruitment Science (TEACH-RS) | University of Wisconsin – Madison |

October 2024 DRISS Presents TEACH-RS is an interactive, monthly lunchtime seminar (via Zoom) to learn about dissemination and implementation research and recruitment science

Seminar Description: Up to 65% of hospitalized older adults experience loss of independent function, now identified as a hospital acquired disability. The most preventable and predictable cause of loss of function in older adults is limited mobility. Although an important component of hospital care, older adult patient ambulation often does not occur. Multiple system barriers prevent nursing staff from engaging patients in ambulation activity.  To directly address these barriers, we developed Mobilizing Older adults Via a systems-based INtervention (MOVIN). This presentation will describe MOVIN, forming organizational partnerships, implementation strategies used to create a better fit of MOVIN to match organizational and unit level needs, and challenges/lessons learned with launching a pragmatic clinical trial during a pandemic.

Speakers: Barbara King, PhD, RN, FAAN; Linsey Steege, PhD; Mary Hook, PhD, RN-BC; Sheri Martin, BSN, RN-BC
