DRISS is an interactive, monthly lunchtime seminar (via Zoom) focused on learning about the growing science of dissemination and implementation research and practice!

Seminar Description:
This seminar will provide an overview of the I-TRUST Study’s methods of expanding ocular telehealth to prevent blindness from diabetes. The research seeks to advance health equity in rural and urban underserved primary care clinics. The study combines dissemination and implementation practices, mixed methods, implementation costing, and health equity research. Dr. Liu will discuss methods and frameworks, as well as her team's experience transitioning from a K23-funded pilot study to a UG1-funded multicenter clinical trial with ancillary studies supported by NIH Diversity Supplements.

Speaker:
Yao Liu, MD, MS, is the Director of the UW Teleophthalmology Program, an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Glaucoma Service Chief, and Glaucoma Fellowship Director. She focuses her work on expanding telemedicine-based eye screening in Wisconsin and across the nation. Her research uses new and innovative technologies to better understand glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and other diseases of the eye.
