Bose formally adopted Jana-Gana-Mana as the national anthem of Azad Hind Government at a convention held in November 1941, where it was performed in its original form. On why, instead of Vande Mataram by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, Jana-Gana-Mana by Rabindranath Tagore was considered to be India’s national anthem and why did Bose commission its translation.
