Accused in Sandro Muhlach complaint detained by Senate panel

Jojo Nones, one of the accused in the sexual abuse complaint filed by young actor Sandro Muhlach, was cited in contempt and detained by a Senate panel on Monday (August 19).
Present at the hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Information and Mass Media were Nones and his co-accused Richard Cruz; Muhlach, via video call; and Muhlach's father, veteran actor Niño Muhlach.
During the hours-long probe, Nones was repeatedly asked by Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada whether he offered financial contribution to any charitable institution of Niño Muhlach's choice.

"It's a very simple question, answerable by a yes or no," Estrada said. "Sinungaling talaga ito. Scriptwriter ka nga."
Nones maintained it was not a settlement, and refused to answer with a "yes" or "no" which drew Estrada's ire and subsequent motion to hold him in contempt.
