Coming back to Biggin Hill from Liverpool, in the aftermath of Storm Callum, was quite an experience.
This short video shows the landing, to minimums - cloudbase 300 ft, rain, mist and a tail wind - the worst weather I've flown in so far.
Minimums - my legal minimum is 200 ft but we all have personal minimums below which we don't like to go and this occasion (300 ft) pushed mine.
Turbulance - the prime navigation instrument is the HSI which shows the ILS needles - that stayed fairly constant in these gusty stormy conditions but the sensitive VSI went crazy (as it would).
