More than 400 Camas Education Association (CEA) members and supporters picketed today in front of the Zellerbach Administration Center in Camas to encourage progress in negotiations between the union and Camas School District (CSD) negotiators.

Liberty Middle School teacher, Shannon Cotton, spoke about what’s happening.

Three topics are still unresolved: 1) smaller class sizes; 2) equity in music, library and PE funding across CSD schools; and 3) higher wages, specifically a Cost Of Living Allowance (COLA) to combat inflation.

The CEA has asked for an 8.9 percent COLA, and CSD’s final offer is a 5.7 percent COLA.
