Priti Patel has insisted she will not be "silenced" after receiving a letter from Labour MPs accusing her of using her race to "gaslight other minority communities".

The letter is in response to Ms Patel's passionate Commons speech on Monday 8th June, where she described racial slurs she was called at school and said she was "racially abused in the street".

Ms Patel told Labour critics that she would "not take lectures from the other side of the House".

She told how she was called a "Paki" in the playground and advised to "drop her surname" when challenged over the Government's record on racism.
