V544 on Aurizon grain 2182S 11/09/22

Описание к видео V544 on Aurizon grain 2182S 11/09/22

Aurizon loaded grain 2182S from Tailem Bend with locomotives V544 - G535 - CLF6 - ALF21 - G533 on 11/09/22.

At this point, locomotive V544 had spent about a year in service after reactivation by One Rail Australia (later absorbed into Aurizon). The model GT46C locomotive was originally made for Freight Australia in 2002 to replace 2 of their G class locomotives which had been damaged beyond repair. It was named after the former deputy Prime Minister and rail advocate, the late Tim Fischer. After Freight Australia was absorbed into Pacific National in 2004, PN moved it to Port Augusta a few years later to work on the Leigh Creek coal trains. It was stored after a major engine failure in 2014, 2 years before the service ceased due to the closure of the power stations serviced by the coal train. It was an orphan in PN’s fleet, being the only GT46C locomotive that they owned. One Rail Australia bought and reactivated it in 2021, joining the 4 other GT46s in its fleet. Now, the locomotive sees use on grain trains serving the Viterra export facilities at Port Adelaide and Outer Harbor, bringing in grain from SA and Western Victoria, as well as Adelaide to Darwin intermodal trains.
