Turning menacing ambiant Metroid music into a jazz fusion piece with fat bass clarinet riffs and a stanky groove was the best idea I had in a while.

I'M BACK ON YOUTUBE! I was very busy this past year, mostly doing some more local projects like composing and producing music for plays, albums and doing a bunch of performances. I've decided to start making time for my YouTube channel again, so get ready for some more crazy one-man orchestra arrangements!

I got the idea for this arrangement the second I bought my bass clarinet, it's such a cool instrument that has a very deep and mysterious tone. I always love when I listen to music that make an electric bass and a bass clarinet play in unison, it's such a powerful sound and it's used often in bands like Snarky Puppy. The second my brain thought of Metroid + bass clarinet, I knew it was a match made in heaven.

I decided to go with a very groovy and progressive approach when writing this, I wanted to challenge myself to keep the menacing vibe from the original while making it so that your head can bop to it. I think this is my best arrangement yet in terms of telling a story and evolving through it, I put a lot of care into not making two sections sound the same, even though the original only has 2 chords that repeat. I was very much influenced by Insaneintherain's version for the harmony in the B section, but I tried to do everything else differently to make it my own.
