LBDA is proud to present the sixth episode of our 2023 Community Webinar Series, ‘You Spoke, We Listened: Research Priorities of the Lewy body dementia Community.’

In 2021, the LBDA Research Centers of Excellence Community Engagement Working Group conducted a survey aimed at identifying the research priorities of individuals living with Lewy body dementia (LBD) and their care partners. This gave the LBD community the opportunity to voice their needs and detail areas of great need to help guide future LBD research efforts.

In this webinar, presenters Dr. Ece Bayram of the University of California, San Diego, and Dr. Samantha Holden of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, explore the survey's findings, shed light on how the survey was conducted, share key findings, and their potential impact on the future of LBD research.

Up next in our Community Webinar Series is Episode 7, 'Building Your Care Team: The Role of an Aging Life Care Manager,' on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 2:00pm ET.

This webinar will introduce Aging Life Care management: a holistic, client-centered approach to caring for older adults or those facing ongoing health challenges. Their guidance leads families to the actions and decisions that ensure quality care and an optimal life for those they love, thus reducing worry, stress and time off of work for family care partners.

And be sure to register for the final webinar in our Community Webinar Series, taking place on November 15 at 2:00 pm ET. Episode 8, 'The Role of DaTscan in the Diagnosis of Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB),' will examine the overlapping pathology and symptoms of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases, which can create challenges to diagnosing Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).

Research suggests that DLB is the most often misdiagnosed form of progressive dementia, requiring multiple visits to providers and up to 18 months to receive an accurate diagnosis.

Dr. Jennifer Goldman, Chair, LBDA Scientific Advisory Council, will explore the role of DaTscan in the diagnosis of DLB and provide an overview of the benefits and limitations of this technology in the diagnostic process.

This webinar is made possible by a sponsorship provided by GE HealthCare. LBDA and the presenters are solely responsible for the content in this program.
