What if instead of delivering your order, a food app sent you on an all-expenses-paid trip just to eat it? Sounds unbelievable, right? But in 2023, KFC actually pulled this off in Australia.

At the time, food delivery apps like UberEats and DoorDash were offering heavy discounts — up to 80%! Customers were shifting away from KFC’s own app. To fight back, KFC came up with a genius stunt: they added special dishes from other countries (like Japan’s Wafu Burger or Canada’s Poutine Fries) on their app.

Here’s the twist — if someone ordered those items, instead of delivering them, KFC literally sponsored a trip abroad so the customer could enjoy it at the original location. When one lucky customer got flown to Tokyo, the story went viral and created massive FOMO.

The results? In just 4 weeks, KFC’s app downloads jumped by 43% and they made ₹350 crore in sales through their own platform.
Lesson? Sometimes the boldest stunts bring the biggest wins.
