Reinforced concrete (RC) frames with masonry infill walls are commonly found in seismically active regions. Past earthquakes have shown the vulnerability of this type of structures even under moderate ground excitations, causing casualties and high economic losses. This web seminar focuses on the evaluation and design of infilled RC frame structures following the guidelines specified in ASCE 41-17 and TMS 402 to understand their in-plane and out-of-plane behavior during an earthquake. This presentation also covers a modeling approach using diagonal struts to represent the infills, which can be used to predict the seismic performance of such structures.
