A short time-lapse video showing the process of painting my portrait of "Lt General Sir Nick Borton", KCB, DSO, MBE. Commissioned by The Royal Regiment of Scotland to mark Sir Nick's retirement as Regimental Colonel. This painting is hanging at their HQ in Edinburgh Castle.

Oils on Canvas, 100cm x 70cm.

Materials used:
Daley pre-stretched pro Cotton medium grain canvas.
Paints: Michael Harding and Winsor and Newton oils.
Brushes: assorted non branded
Thinner: Turpentine
Medium: Liquin
Varnish: Talons spray

Colour palette used:
I like to keep a fairly simple palette, warm and cool of each is usually enough to mix most tones. I never use black.

Titanium White
Cadmium yellow
Lemon yellow
Cadmium red
Alizarin Crimson
Phthalo blue
French Ultramarine

Additional:
Flesh tint
Yellow ochre
Raw Umber
