Roland V71 "Modern Brushes". Full details in the description below

eDrum nerds! Another vid showing a diff side of Roland’s new V71 module (and it’s midi’d to my TD50X).
Headphones HIGHLY recommended. This is how the modules sound ‘as is’ in my headphones – I added just a slight touch of sound editing in my DAW, just to enhance the sound after posting.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a Jazz drummer…not by any stretch of the imagination! But I love playing all styles, and I saw Ralf playing this kit in Roland’s video with plastic rods so I figured I’d give it a go. I’m using Regal Tip “Cajon brushes”(not sure if RT is in biz any longer, but they make some of my fave brushes & rods, especially their wood-handled Blasticks!).These brush/rods are not as heavy as Vic Firth Rute 505’s (another of my fave rods), but they’re heavier than the plastic brushes I tried. I like these for this kit and to get the sound and feel I was going for. The beauty of this V71 is, even with diff brushes/rods, there’s a BIG diff in the sound. That’s impressive for an eKit!! You can finally ‘pull’ diff sounds and textures from your eKit….so now, jumping between eDrums and acoustic drums is closer than ever.
This is Kit #70 in the V71 “Modern Brushes”…no edits. I have my TD50X midi’d to the V71, and I chose “Jazz Natural” from Vexpression (‘Arsenal’, I believe?), but the cymbals slider is ‘off’ on the TD50X as the V71 cymbals are more natural/real sounding.
