Diet for Kidney Patients:

Animal-based proteins such as fish, meat, eggs, dairy products, etc. are not recommended for kidney patients, as they are packed with heavy molecules and our kidneys have to work extra hard to remove those molecules from the blood. Replace animal-based protein with lentils, sprouts, etc.

Avoid excessive consumption of fluids, as damaged kidney filters are not able to filter out excess fluids from the blood effectively. Consuming fluids in higher amounts can lead to an accumulation of fluids in the lungs.

Refrain from a high-sodium diet. Consuming sodium in higher amounts increases blood pressure and further damages your kidneys.
Do not consume processed and canned foods; they are high in salt.

Do not eat high-potassium fruits and vegetables. Our kidneys are not able to filter potassium effectively from the blood. High-potassium food items such as potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkins, ladyfinger, spinach, bananas, oranges, papaya, mangoes, etc. should be avoided by kidney patients.

Keep a check on phosphorous-rich food items such as aerated and carbonated drinks, dairy products, meat, etc., if you are a kidney patient.
