LASANIYA BATATA | Potatoes in spicy Garlic Gravy - If you are a Batata, I mean Potato lover, then this recipe is a must try!
Lehsuni Aalo:
Preparation time 10 minutes
Cooking time 20-25 minutes
Serve 2-4
Ingredients
For Potato Marination
3 no. Large Potatoes (boiled, peeled & diced)
1 tsp Degi red chili flakes
Salt to taste,
For Garlic Chutney
1 tbsp Degi red chili powder,
10-11 no. Garlic cloves-
Salt to taste,
½ inch Ginger (peeled & sliced)
For Lehsuni Aalo
2-3 tbsp Oil,
1/2 tsp Cumin seeds,
1 no. Cloves,
1 no. Black cardamom,
1 no. Green cardamom,
1 no. Bay leaf,
1 no. medium Onion, chopped,
Prepared Garlic Chutney,
1 cup fresh Tomato puree,
1/2 tbsp Coriander powder,
⅓ cup Water,
Marinated Potatoes,
For Raita
Boiled Potato, trimmings,
½ Tomato, chopped,
2 no. Green chillies (less spicy & chopped)
½ small Carrot (peeled & grated)
½ tbsp fresh Coriander leaves, chopped,
2 cups Curd, beaten,
Salt to taste,
For Garnish
Degi red chili powder,
Coriander sprig,
Process
For Potato Marination
In a bowl or tray, add potatoes, degi red chili powder, salt to taste and mix it well.
Keep it aside to marinate for a while.
For Garlic Chutney
In a mortar pestle, add degi red chili powder, garlic, salt to taste, ginger and grind it coarsely.
Keep it aside for further use.
For Lasaniya Batata
In a handi or kadai, add oil, once its hot, add cumin seeds, cloves, black cardamom, green cardamom, bay leaf and let it splutter well.
Add onions and saute it for a minute until translucent.
Add prepared garlic chutney and cook it for 5-6 minutes on medium flames.
Add fresh tomato puree, coriander powder and cook it for a while until it thickens.
Add water and give it a quick boil.
Add marinated potatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes on low flames.
Transfer it to a serving dish and garnish it with coriander sprig.
Serve hot with roti or thepla.
For Raita
In a bowl, add boiled potato trimmings, tomato, green chillies, carrot, fresh coriander leaves, curd, salt to taste, sugar and mix it well.
Transfer it to a serving bowl, garnish it with degi red chili powder and coriander sprig.
Serve with prepared lasaniya batata and roti.
