Joplin plays Joplin Pleasant Moments 1916 piano roll

Описание к видео Joplin plays Joplin Pleasant Moments 1916 piano roll

Artis Wodehouse pianolizes Scott Joplin's own 1916 piano roll of his great 1909 ragtime waltz composition, Pleasant Moments.

Wodehouse plays Joplin's roll (Connorized 10277) on a restored 1912 player piano made by Bush & Lane of Chicago. This instrument has been referred to as "the Bentley of player pianos". Restored by Paul Manganaro.

Wodehouse plays a recut from the rare original roll. The recut lacked the expression line inscribed on the original roll, so in order to create expression -- dynamics and tempo modification -- Wodehouse studied the original 1909 published sheet music score.

Video filmed 4/28/20 in South Hero, Vermont.
