"How to" Vacumatic Major repair with some nib work (nib straightening)

Описание к видео "How to" Vacumatic Major repair with some nib work (nib straightening)

At long last, I was able to get a good diaphragm replacement on camera. Now I just have to shoot for getting a touchdown/snorkel seal in.
However, this was a great pen to repair. I was happy to get a nib challenge, and I will say that this is the most bent nib I have every tried. So, I'm super happy with how it turned out. So much going on with this nib - straighten, align, and then make sure it and the section are well approximated. I would love to get any feedback on this nib work - leave comments.

These early parker pens - and I include the striped duovac in this statement, are true works of art. I love the Art Deco ornamentation/esthetic. This particular pen cleaned up quite well and I'm happy that the trim was not tarnished and the art deco cap band could be shown off.

For this repair:
Heat (hair drier/heat gun)
Grippers
Nib block/tools
Dowels
Diaphragm
Tools for diaphragm removal - dremmel tool and bits or just a needle!
Lubricant (Vacumatic lubricant/silicone grease)
Talc
Tool for removing plunger unit
Polishing supplies

Nib straightening
Nib block if you can find one (believe this came from Pen Tooling)
Metal dowel for burnishing/smoothing - and this may be the primary tool you need. The ball-tipped tools are a bonus
Heat supply may soften the nib a bit.
Loop for aligning
