Bonneville gearbox component inspection Ep.4

Описание к видео Bonneville gearbox component inspection Ep.4

It's been quite a bit of work to finally extract all of the gearbox components, I'm sure many mechanic would have been tempted to have left the main shaft in position & only replace the broken 2nd gear. That, however, would have been poor job indeed, missing many more dsamaged, bent & chipped components. As with many mechanical diagnostics, it's imperative we identify the 'Primary' fail - basically, what was the cause of the failure? If not, then the repair will be short lived, a half arsed job & that just won't do...

So join me in this video as we work our way through all of the gearbox components, inspecting one by one but first we need to really understand how this gearbox works, the flow of drive through each gear, only then can we really try to piece together the sequence of events that led to those teeth breaking free from 2nd gear...

Oh, apologies for such a long video, the filming was spread over two days & the inspection did take a little longer than expected! Anyway, I'm sure these inspection techniques will be useful to anyone planning a gearbox rebuild.

The next video will cover the inspection of the clutch & primary drive - I'm confident we will find a few more components that, well, should have been replaced years ago...

Enjoy
