In this video, Jarrett from Alarm Grid teaches users how to use a Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat with a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus. The Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus System has a built-in Z-Wave controller for supporting these devices. You can use pretty much any Z-Wave thermostat, regardless of the manufacturer.

The Z-Wave wireless protocol is designed to be universal and work across different manufacturers. As a result, you should have no problem using a Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat with a Qolsys IQ Panel 2 Plus, just like you would have no problem using a Z-Wave thermostat from a different manufacturer. Virtually any Z-Wave thermostat will function on the system exactly the same.

By pairing a Z-Wave thermostat with the IQ Panel 2 Plus, you will be able to control it directly from the system. If the system is monitored, you will also be able to control it through an interactive service platform, such as Alarm.com. This is where the real benefit of using a Z-Wave thermostat with the IQ Panel 2 Plus arises, and it will really allow you to get the very most out of the device.

By using the thermostat with Alarm.com, you can control the temperature from virtually anywhere using the Alarm.com Mobile App on your smartphone. You can also establish smart scenes for the thermostat so that it activates automatically based on a schedule or with certain system events. These smart scenes can be conveniently created from the Alarm.com website or mobile app.

An excellent Honeywell Z-Wave Thermostat to use with the IQ Panel 2 Plus is the Honeywell T6 Pro. This thermostat is unique in that it can be used without common power from a "C-Wire". In that case, the thermostat would receive all its power from batteries. You just want to be aware that without using common power, the T6 will not operate as a Z-Wave repeater for other Z-Wave devices.
