Lijiang-Panzhihua Expressway, is an important part of G4216 Chengdu-Lijiang Expressway. It is an expressway from Lijiang City, Yunnan to Panzhihua City, Sichuan. Construction started on December 23, 2009. The total length of Lipan Expressway is 215 kilometers, and the entire line is completed and opened to traffic on December 30, 2022.

The Lijiang-Panzhihua Expressway construction project passes through the Lijiang Ancient City District, Yongsheng County, Huaping County, and Panzhihua City. The roadbed width is 24.5 meters, the road surface width is 6 lanes in both directions (including emergency lanes), and the driving speed is 80 kilometers per hour.

The Lijiang-Panzhihua Expressway crosses the Hengduan Mountains and crosses the Jinshajiang River four times. The geological conditions along the highway are complex, earthquakes are frequent, and adverse geological disasters occur frequently, making the construction of it is so difficult.

With the opening of the Huaping-Lijiang Expressway on December 30, 2022, the entire expressway from Panzhihua, Sichuan to Lijiang, Yunnan is available, and the driving time has been shortened from the original 6 hours to 2 hours. It become an important artery connecting Lijiang to Dali in the south to ASEAN, Diqing to Tibet in the north, Sichuan and Chongqing in the east through Huaping, and South Asia through Baoshan in the west.
