In the summer of 2004 we visited the eastern half of the former Santa Fe Transcon between Joliet & Chillicothe. We visited many towns along the BNSF Chilli Sub including Lemont, McCook, Willow Springs, Lemont, Lorenzo, Mazon, Ransom, Ancona, Wilbern & Chillicothe. Trains were prevalant sporting Santa Fe, Burlington Northern, BNSF, Union Pacific & EMDX power. In Lorenzo, we were even treated to several office cars traveling at the end of a westbound intermodal train.
