Hello all, and welcome to my Stat-maxing guide for Final Fantasy X!

This final episode of the 9999HP stat maxing playthrough focuses on the superfluous stats that you can raise if you want to.

Agility over 170 is absolutely mandatory, but there is already enough Agility to get over 170 with the nodes that are already present on the Standard Sphere Grid.  Agility over 170 (up to 250) only affects the first turn of the battle, and even that makes no difference if you just have a character use a First Strike weapon and switch your backup characters in. As such, there's no reason to go over 170 Agility, but if you want to beat Fenrir then the best way to do it is probably using Victor Overdrive and Blitz Ace/Attack Reels.

Magic is frustrating to grind because you get Magic Spheres from Jumbo Flan, and this irritating enemy is immune to physical attacks and has immensely high defense, so Overdrives do little damage.  In order to consistently beat and Overkill it, you need high Magic, which is paradoxical for obvious reasons.

To do this we need to raise Yuna's stats using the Don Tonberry trick, which in turn raises Anima's stats.  The short version of this is that raising any of Yuna's stats raises Anima's Magic stat, so max Yuna's HP, MP, Strength, Defense, Magic Defense and any Evasion and Accuracy you have on the grid.  If Anima has close to 255 Magic you can teach her Haste, Reflect, Flare, Lancet and Doublecast and use the optimal method shown in the videos also described in detail in the post linked below. If Anima's Magic isn't high enough, use Pain repeatedly instead of Doublecast Flare. It takes 27 Magic Spheres to get 255 Magic, but if you raise Yuna's Magic a bit Anima should reach 255 much quicker.

SUMMARY

For this set of videos, this series focuses on Stat-maxing using the Standard Sphere Grid and 9999HP.  The best way to do this is to activate every existing node on the grid and then add the required number of extra stat nodes for each stat to get 255 Strength, Defence and Magic Defence and Accuracy with 114 Luck, 176 Evasion, 170+ Agility.  255 Magic is optional and not required.

Totals required for Standard Grid, no Clear Spheres, 114 Luck
20 Strength Spheres (can include 1 from blitz, 1 Yojimbo's Fayth, 3 Dodging lightning bolts)
25 Defence
27 Magic (do last, max Yuna, Anima Flares)
32 Magic Defence (had 64)
0 Agility for 170 (19 for 250)
46 Accuracy
13 Evasion (32 for 255)
24 Luck (113 or 114 Luck) and approx 168 Fortune Spheres for 7 characters
