Sky News host Rita Panahi says the education gender gap is "real and growing", but there appears to be "little concern about correcting the imbalance".

“Girls are now out-performing boys in nearly every HSC subject," she said.

“And one of the biggest areas of concern is literacy, whereby year 9, boys trail girls by around 20 months.

“That’s according to NAPLAN data — which also shows reading standards for this cohort fell to a record low — we now have 13 and a half per cent of boys unable to read even at the minimum standard.”
