Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. We proudly present this epic set from 1998 with the legendary DJ Deekline (Dee Kline) skilfully mix a selection of old school Breakbeat, Acid House, Hardcore music with UK Garage. The recording is 60mins of great mixes, chopping and changing through genres without necessarily feeling the changes in sound, but it also showed the roots of these sound. Dee Kline dropped old school classics Bomb Scare - 2 Bad Mice (Moving Shadow label) and playing tracks like Hyperfunk - Antonio (Locked On Records). Dee Kline was experimental with his approach which in itself was unique and it transcended all these barriers pigeonholing music which made listening to him exciting and refreshing. His production was heavily influenced by Breakbeat culture and it wasn't out of coincidence in the years that followed that he played a big part the reemergence of the scene in early 2000s. In 1999, Deekline launched his own record label Rat Records and it has continued to be a successful underground music label releasing an array of music from UK Garage, Breakbeat, Drum & Bass, Dubstep and Grime. In recent years we have seen Dee Kline collaborate with top producers and like Ed Solo, but he also supported other DJs and producers get on the ladder. Dee Kline also briefly co-managed Flex FM for a short period when it was on 103.6 frequency modulation. Note that Flex FM is now a legal station, they received their OFCOM community radio licence, in 2018 and currently transmit on 101.4FM and stream live online.

In the mid 90s, MC Hyperactive began MCing with Deekline on London Jungle pirate radio station Don FM. In the late 90s they moved to Flex FM and their partnership was cemented with them collaborating at many of West London's top rave nights like "Panache". Deekline & Hyperactive did several UK Garage releases in the late 90s and 2000s, with "Fame And The Money" (1999) and "Sexy Cinderella" (2000). Hyperactive also worked with producers like Headtop, also getting booked for all the top UK Garage nights like "Garage Nation" and "Garage Delight". He recently collaborating with the Garage legends, MC Neat, MC Kie, MC Viper, MC Sharky P & Junior Buzz on MC Bellyman's S2E4 Car barz Part 2 Garage special.

MC Stevie A is overlooked as an MC. He is a certified legend in his own right and is one of the first Garage MCs on the scene back in the mid 90s when Garage was being played in room two at Jungle events like One Nation. He did sets on London pirate radio stations Don FM, Dream FM and Flex FM, starting off as Jungle MC then MC both on UK Garage and DNB. Stevie A was booked for many mega rave nights like Garage Nation, One Nation, Slammin' Vinyl, United Dance, Dreamscape and many other well known rave nights. He's known for his dancing on stage, hyping the crowd and good sense of humour and is definitely loved by the ravers from that era. He currently still active as MC and features on many online platforms.

The year 1999 was a successful year for UK Garage releases in the UK Commercial Charts with tracks like: The 10th Night - Y-Tribe, All 'n' All - 187 Lockdown featuring D'Empress, Buddy X 99 - Dreem Teem vs. Neneh Cherry, Do U Dream - Serious Danger featuring Carlton, Enough Is Enough - Y-Tribe featuring Elisabeth Troy, Everybody Come On (Can U Feel It) - Mr Reds vs. DJ Skribble, Funk on Ah Roll" (Bump & Flex Mix) - James Brown, Get on Down - JKL featuring MC Neat, Girlfriend - Caramel, Got Myself Together - Bump & Flex featuring Kallaghan, Happy Day - SJC featuring Wayne Allen, Joyrider - Colour Girl, A Little Bit of Luck - DJ Luck & MC Neat, Moving Too Fast - Artful Dodger featuring Romina Johnson, My Love (10º Below mixes) - Kele Le Roc, Over Here - M-Dubs featuring Richie Dan, Reminisce - Corrupted Cru featuring MC Neat, Re-Rewind (The Crowd Say Bo Selecta) - Artful Dodger feat.
