The idea behind the Rabindra Sangeet compilation "Din-Rajani" is to present 8 songs of Tagore based on 8 ragas chronologically from morning (Bhairavi) till late night (Malkauns), each preceded by an Esraj piece based on the same raga. Since it is difficult to ascribe one definite raga to several of Tagore's songs, the esraj pieces reflect the mood of the songs, rather than the exact grammatical interpretation of the ragas.
