In the Qigong tradition, the human body represents a microcosm of the universe, where your head represents heaven / space / what's above.

"Banging the heavenly drum" means tapping an area on the back of the head known as the Jade Pillow (around BL-9 acupoint). But in Qigong, the Jade Pillow doesn't just represent acupoint BL-9. In a Taoist vocabulary, the Jade Pillow (Yuzhen) is one of the gates that must be open in order to allow the Small Circulation (Microcosmic orbit) to flow smoothly. The microcosmic orbit is, of course, the body equivalent of the flow of energy through the universe.

Benefits: Release tightness from this tension hotspot (occipital protuberance) often caused by bad posture. Stimulate your connection to the universe.

How to do this: With your palms gently covering your ears, place your middle fingers over the back area of a head at the base of skull (Jade Pillow). Put your index fingers on the top of the middle fingers. Snap your index fingers off the middle fingers to tap onto your head down to the head. This will produce a sound similar to drumming inside your head.
