Chasing Big Migratory Striped Bass On The Chesapeake Bay (Day1). Big Jigs And Topwater.

Описание к видео Chasing Big Migratory Striped Bass On The Chesapeake Bay (Day1). Big Jigs And Topwater.

Every fall, breeding sized Striped Bass migrate down the east coast of the United States, with a majority ending up my backyard at the beginning of winter; the one and only Chesapeake Bay. In this video, I join my father, brother, and a close family friend on a trip in mid December in search of the first wave of giants. While there weren't any GIANT fish, we caught more fish than we could count and managed to land a few over 40".

Remember, STRIPED BASS ARE STRUGGLING. While we caught a ton of fish, keep in mind that these are almost all migratory fish, most of which were originally born in the Chesapeake. A few weeks prior to this, many anglers were struggling to catch a limit of smaller resident fish at 1 per person from 19-24". Due to poor spawning in recent years, we are missing generations of smaller fish. Please remember to handle these fish with care, so that they can do their job in the spring and hopefully help replenish the stock.

I caught all of my fish on a FishOldSkool 9" OG Eel and 1 Oz and 1.5 Oz High Octane Custom Baits Jigheads. The Topwater lures were a 6" GameOn spook and a NomadTackle Chug Norris.

The rod I'm using is a Shimano Teramar 7'6" MH XF paired with a Shimano Stradic 5000 spooled with 40Lb Power Pro and a 30lb Seaguar leader.
