44mm Photonis XR5 Gen 2+ vs 37mm ITT F9800P

Описание к видео 44mm Photonis XR5 Gen 2+ vs 37mm ITT F9800P

The XR5 is an ex-KITE Weaponsight tube, (43.2mm, but classed as 44mm), it was bought "new, old stock", dated 2010, has less than 320 hours on it since I bought it, its spec sheet states 1651 FOM, 65 Resolution and 25.4 SNR. The ITT F9800P specs are unknown, it's dated 2004 and its Gen 3, ITT report the F9800P as a 1600 Max FOM (so it could be anywhere from the average to 1600, I actually believe It's very close to that 1600 as the resolution I think it superior to the XR5.

The footage is taken from the "night-time route video" and is under a thick tree canopy, where the path leads under the trees. It was about 2.30am in both videos and roughly the same ambient light levels.
The Gen 3 is imo about 30-40% brighter than the Gen 2+

Downside with the Gen 3, is usage hours are unknown, There is a line shadow at the lower left, about 8 o 'clock position, there's a shadow mark in the centre, there's a few blems in the view too and one piece of dust I can't seem to get rid of out of the housing. Whereas in comparison the XR5 has the better part of 15k hours left on it, apart from one external blem (I created on the input window) it's completely blem-free and is almost perfect (unlike myself).

Also, the Gen 3 having no manual gain and auto-gating is worse in dynamic light conditions, so is only really suited for really low light scenarios.

Halo's from light are also smaller on the XR5 too, much less bloom.

* First test vs the XR5. More to follow.
