Hey, everybody. How's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One trailer wiring harness here on our 2021 Ford Bronco Sport. So a trailer wiring harness is gonna be one of the several components that we're gonna need to successfully tow a trailer here with our Bronco. Now, the first one is gonna be obviously the trailer hitch where we're obviously gonna need a ball mount and hitch ball. And last but not least, we will need a trailer wiring harness. And what the trailer wiring harness does is it transfers the signals from our vehicle here to the trailer, so we can let other motorists out on the road know what signals we're gonna be making, so we can arrive to our destination safe and sound.

Now, a lot of the times, our trailers are actually gonna cover the taillights on the vehicle. Therefore, we need a way to transmit those signals to other motorists on the road. So something I like about this kit here is that the trailer connector is actually stored inside the vehicle. And the reason I like this is when we're not towing a trailer, chances are more often than not, we're not gonna have to worry about our trailer connector getting moisture in there, corroding the pins, and causing lighting issues. It's gonna be protected here inside the vehicle.

And then, when we do need to use it, we can just reach in here just like so and actually it's gonna be draped out the hatch. So we're just gonna sort of lay it here on this weatherstripping. This weatherstripping is gonna ensure that we don't pinch the wires and damage them. So we'll just simply close our hatch here. And now, you can see we have our trailer connector outside the vehicle that we can attach our trailer to.

So in regards to this particular trailer connector here, this is what's known as a four-way or a four-pole. So this is actually the most common type of trailer connector on the market and what most trailers are gonna be using. It's gonna transmit the running light circuit as well as the stop and turn signal circuits for both sides. It does not transmit any sort of electric brake output signal, so if you have a trailer with brakes, you will need to upgrade this to a seven-way. But we have plenty of those four to seven-way adapters for you to choose from here at etrailer.

So although not super important for a trailer connector that it gets stored inside the vehicle when not being used, we do have sort of just an added precautionary measure here in the dust cap. Because, again, we really wanna make sure we don't get any water or moisture inside the pins there because what that does is that's actually gonna create corrosion over time, and it can create all sorts of lighting issues, giving us headaches to worry about. We don't wanna have to troubleshoot this. When we get in our vehicle, we wanna tow a trailer, we just wanna be able to take off. And storing this inside the vehicle and having the dust cap is just gonna make sure that we're able to do that. So this trailer wiring harness is actually a powered harness. Now, what that means is we have to run a wire, a power wire, from the rear to the front of the vehicle. Now, a lot of people hate doing that and I can't blame them. It is sort of a time-consuming task. It's not necessarily hard, but it does add to the length of our installation. However, this is actually necessary here for this harness here because what that power wire does is it ensures that we're pulling power from the vehicle's battery for the trailer lights and not the actual taillights on the vehicle. It also powers the converter and what the converter does is it's gonna do a great job of making sure we don't have any issues with the wiring on our trailer affecting the lights on our vehicle. So in regards to installation, this harness here is a custom plug-and-play fit for your particular vehicle. Therefore, we don't have to do any drilling or splicing whatsoever. The installation overall should probably take you guys a few hours or so, depending on your skill level. You really don't need a lot of specialized tools, just a couple tools for wire crimping and stripping. But aside from that, you guys pretty much should have everything you need. If not, you can pick up these tools from most local auto parts stores. We even sell some here at etrailer. So the first step of our install, we need to open up the hatch of our vehicle, come into the rear cargo area here, and we're gonna be removing the floor covering. So just lift up at an angle, and then we should be able to pull straight out. Next, we'll be removing these foam trays insi
