Going through the archives, I found some footage filmed in 2018 when I had a chance to visit the Cotswolds for the day. We stopped in four villages/towns in the Cotswolds: Burford, Bibury ("the prettiest village in England"), Bampton where DOWNTON ABBEY was filmed, and Oxford where A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES was filmed. Bonus stops were two bookshops: Madhatter in Burford and the Oxford University Press in Oxford. Wanting this to be an observational documentary with visual storytelling, there's no narration to accompany this film. If you can watch this on a big screen, it would be even better!

ABOUT BURFORD - Imagine a postcard-perfect town where time seems to have taken a delightful nap. That is Burford, a charming gem nestled along the whispering River Windrush, in the rolling Cotswold hills of England. Often called the "gateway" to this dreamy landscape, Just a stone’s throw from Oxford and Cheltenham, it’s a storybook setting where every corner invites you to pause, breathe, and perhaps, daydream a little longer. It is also home of the Madhatter Bookshop ... a delightful stop for booklovers ... like me!

ABOUT BIBURY - Picture a village plucked straight from the pages of a fairy tale, where honey-colored stone cottages with steep, storybook roofs nestle along a crystal-clear stream. This is Bibury, a place so enchanting that the famed artist William Morris once called it "the most beautiful village in England." As you wander past the 17th-century weavers' cottages of Arlington Row, you might hear echoes of looms and the soft rustle of wool drying on the nearby Rack Isle. This marshy meadow, kissed by water on three sides, now hums with the quiet life of ducks, coots, and moorhens, making it a haven for both nature lovers and dreamers alike.

ABOUT BAMPTON - Tucked away in the heart of the Thames Valley, Bampton, also known as Bampton-in-the-Bush, is a quaint slice of English history that has charmed its way into the spotlight as the beloved film location for DOWNTON ABBEY. With its timeless streets and centuries-old stone buildings, this enchanting parish, which dates back to the Domesday Book, offers many perfect backdrops (whether it's the iconic churchyard, the stately home for "Mrs. Crawley," or the picturesque village square), Bampton’s rustic timeless beauty brings the fictional world of Downton Abbey to life. Being a diehard fan of DOWNTON ABBEY, being in Bampton that day was a huge treat for me!

ABOUT OXFORD - Steeped in centuries of history, Oxford is a city where the past and present entwine beautifully. This ancient seat of learning, with its storied spires and cobblestone streets, plays a major role as the film location for A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES, another one of my favorite TV series. The city’s medieval origins and the scholarly aura of the world-renowned University of Oxford create an atmospheric backdrop for tales of magic and mystery. As you wander through its timeless colleges and ancient libraries, it's easy to see why Oxford was chosen as the setting for this enchanting story, where the boundaries between the real and the supernatural blur in the most beguiling way. After visiting Oxford, I went home and rewatched A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES all over again ... starting with Season 1, Episode 1!
